Selling gold in Sydney

How do gold buyers in Sydney decide what to pay? +

A reputable gold buyer weighs your item on calibrated scales and tests its purity with XRF technology, then prices it against the live gold spot rate. At Top Gold, that math is shown to you before you agree to anything — nothing is estimated by eye.

Where can I sell gold in Sydney for a fair price? +

Look for a licensed second-hand dealer that tests purity in front of you and prices against live spot rates rather than a fixed buy-back list. Top Gold Ryde does exactly this, and welcomes walk-ins from anywhere in Sydney.

Is there a minimum amount of gold I can sell? +

No. We buy gold of any weight, from a single ring to a full jewellery box clear-out.

How quickly do I get paid when I sell my gold? +

Instantly. Once you accept an offer, you’re paid by cash or same-day bank transfer — no waiting days for a cheque to clear.

Silver, broken jewellery & scrap gold

Do you buy silver as well as gold? +

Yes — silver jewellery, sterling silver tableware, and silver bullion coins, rounds and bars are all priced against the live silver spot rate, the same way we price gold.

I have broken jewellery — is it still worth anything? +

Yes. Broken chains, single earrings, and pieces missing stones or clasps are valued on their gold or silver content, not their condition as a finished piece. Cosmetic damage doesn’t reduce the metal value.

What is scrap gold, exactly? +

Scrap gold is any gold item you no longer want in its current form — old rings, tangled chains, dental gold, or mismatched jewellery. It’s valued purely on purity and weight, so condition and style don’t matter.

Should I repair broken jewellery before selling it? +

Usually not worth it. Repair costs often exceed what a low-value or heavily worn piece is worth, and selling as scrap converts it to cash immediately with no repair bill.

Bullion & coins

Do you buy gold and silver bullion? +

Yes — bullion bars and coins from recognised mints and refiners such as PAMP and the Perth Mint, priced against the live spot rate for each metal.

Are old or collectible Australian coins worth more than their metal content? +

Sometimes. Pre-decimal and limited-run coins can carry collector value above their metal content, particularly in uncirculated condition. We check both angles before quoting.

Process & documents

Do I need an appointment to sell my gold? +

No — walk in during opening hours. Most valuations take about ten minutes from start to finish.

What ID do I need to sell gold or silver in NSW? +

A current Australian driver licence, passport, or other government-issued photo ID. This is a legal requirement for licensed second-hand dealers in NSW, and it protects you as the seller.

Is the valuation free and obligation-free? +

Yes, every time. You’re never obligated to sell once you have your quote.

Where is Top Gold located? +

Shop 2035, Level LG1, near the food court at Top Ryde City Shopping Centre — enter from Tucker Street. We are not the kiosk inside the mall.
